Putting together an outfit inspired by Jennifer Lopez is always an amazing idea until you actually compare yourself to a photo of the incredible J.Lo and think: “OMG what the hell!? Why would I do that to myself?” After all, who can really stand up to Jenny from The Block? The woman is almost 50 and looks hotter, and younger than ever. I once heard that the reason she looks so good is because she doesn’t drink, in which case I’m totally screwed.
Nevertheless, I was inspired to create a look a la Jennifer Lopez in the green Versace dress at the Grammy Awards (circa 2000) when I picked out this tropical maxi dress – complete with plunging necklace and thigh-high slits – from the dress rental service at Fitzroy Boutique. Perhaps not your typical look for a sports-focused fundraiser, but I’ve never really been one to follow the rules.
This was the second year of the All Star Gala in support of SickKids (and this year, the Montreal Children’s Hospital) and my second year attending. The event brings together hundred of young professionals in Toronto for a night of fun that also results in funding for the medical care of children in Canada. This year’s event, hosted by my personal favourite/hero, P.K. Subban, raised an impressive 85,000.
Take a look at some more images from the events below!
Looking forward to next year already!
