Chi-Town might be known for its signature deep dish pizza, but, to the delight of gourmet pizza-lovers everywhere, it’s no-longer the only style of pizza that you can get there. On a recent trip to the windy city, I had the chance to visit the newly opened Pizza East within Soho House‘s brand new Chicago house location and it did not disappoint.
Located in the trendy Fulton Market District, the restaurant interior is quintessentially Soho House, and offers a cool, and open, industrial-inspired space for guests (both Soho House members and non) to dine in. The food, to my delight, was just as good as I remembered it to be from my days when I lived in London and frequented the original Pizza East as often as possible. Should you be visiting Pizza East in Chicago anytime soon, I highly recommend ordering the meatballs and drenched-in-butter-and-garlic garlic bread. Just don’t forget your breath mints!
Aside from the food, one of my favourite things about Pizza East is the open kitchen that allows you to get right up close and watch then kitchen as they prepare your food. In fact you can even take a seat and dine along the chef’s counter if you’re so keen. My other favourite thing about the restaurant is getting to walk through the jaw-dropping setting of The Allis bar in order to get to and from the restaurant.
And of course doing so makes it ever so easy to sit back in one of The Allis’ plush chairs and order a cocktail before and after dinner to start and end the night just right.
