The summer maxi dress might evoke images of oversized boho dresses in a variety of floral prints, but they don’t always have to be. Personally, I prefer to take the simpler approach when it comes to wearing longer lengths, which is why I reached for this simple black maxi dress from Old Navy.

Surprisingly, finding a perfect Little Black Maxi dress like this one isn’t as easy as it might seem, especially when you’re under 5’5″. Thankfully this jersey version is not only incredibly soft and comfy, but the length is also perfect for my height — even in flats!

The great thing about a simple Little Black Maxi like this one is that it can easily take you from day to night throughout the summer. For my easy day time look I threw on a pair of Birkenstocks, straw sun hat, and a great linen moto jacket from Old Navy  (another summer wardrobe staple!).

But with slits on both sides of this maxi, you can see how easy it is to get all Anjelina’s-right-leg in the blink of an eye! You could also just lose the hat and sunglasses, and swap comfy flat sandals for some killer heels.

For any lover of the Little Black Dress and the summer maxi, you need to have a jersey Little Black Maxi in your wardrobe. It’s sure to be something you’ll live in!

What I Wore: vintage sun hat, Celine sunglasses, Old Navy linen jacket, Old Navy black maxi dress, Chanel bag, Birkenstock sandals.
