Two of my greatest loves in life are Rock ‘n’ Roll and Chanel, andI honestly can’t think of anything else that has had a stronger influence on my style. Coming of age through the late nineties and early 00s, I spent my days obsessing over bands. No, not DJs or pop stars, the boy bands I loved involved guys who could actually play instruments and created great music. Girls too. Sure 90s grunge might be a huge trend right now, but for me it’s literally ingrained into my style.
Now, as a grown woman (who still feels like a teenager) I have to be cautious of looking a little too much like an older version of my teen self. So how does one ‘smarten up’ a rock tee and some ripped jeans? Why, with a glam Chanel bag and tweed jacket of course!
This month I’m proud to announce that I am now a Style Influencer for Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren — a brand with rock roots to its core — that’s available at The Hudson’s Bay in Canada. Alongside my brand ambassadorship for Ann Taylor, I love that these two amazing brands represent both sides of my personal style, and come together to truly show it off so well. Personally I’m a big fan of the fresh update this Ann Taylor tweed jacket gave to the look rather than my standard black biker jacket.
And as much as I love the addition of a classic Chanel bag and Chanel-inspired tweed jacket to an otherwise Rock ‘n’ Roll look, I would never reach for pearls to finish off this look. Instead I topped my arm (and ring) party with this gorgeous and delicate handpiece by Toronto’s very own Standing O Jewelry.
It might not be warm enough to say goodbye to full length jeans just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t begin to embrace the spring season with a few key pieces to update your look. For me, it’s all about getting out of the dark black hole that is my wardrobe by incorporating lighter and brighter pieces one by one.
What I Wore: Sunglasses by Dior, tweed jacket by Ann Taylor, printed baseball tee and jeans by Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren, bag by Chanel and shoes by Express.
