Incase you don’t often go “past the bridge” (aka Dufferin Street) when hanging out on Queen West, you’re missing out on one of the best up-and-coming neighbourhoods in the city. The area is filled with local independent businesses that range from the Westend Food Co-op for organic and local groceries, Capital Espresso for the best coffee, Grand Electric for trendy tacos, to Shopgirls for great Canadian shopping.
Shopgirls is owned by Michelle (pictured above) who actually used to work for my mom’s store, 290 ION, back in the day. Small world! Michelle’s shop is dedicated to showcasing some of Canada’s best up-and-coming designers with an emphasis on celebrating women of all shapes, sizes and ages. The reason she is standing in her underwear in the picture above is because they recently launched a ‘What’s Your Body Shape?‘ campaign to help customers dress for their body type.
Shopgirls has generously offered a $150 gift certificate for one lucky GracieCarroll.com reader to experience their shop first hand. See some of my favourite carried brands, and how to enter below!
