Earlier this fall I paid a visit to Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket and sat down with Marketing Director, Jennifer Kleinberg, to share my styling tips and holiday outfit 2015 suggestions. It was a fabulous experience to get a personal tour of the mall (which has everything from Coach to Sephora, Aldo and more), and get to handpick my favourite pieces to put together two holiday outfit ideas.
As you’ll see in this video, I share with Jennifer some of my thoughts on how I get dressed, who I’m inspired by (can you guess who it is?), and what makes me feel gorgeous. You’ll also get to see the two holiday outfits I put together – one for a major holiday shebang, and an another that can easily take you from the office to the office party. Here are the details on my two holiday outfit ideas for winter 2015:
Outfit #1: The Winter White Rock & Roller
This outfit was inspired (pretty clearly) by 80s Madonna and a few of my favourite rockstars. It was an obvious choice to put together as soon as I found the Chanel-inspired tweed-look vest with a chiffon train at M for Mendocino. To keep the look soft and pretty, I opted to pair it with a white lace dress to wear underneath to create a feminine look with an edge to it. During the holiday season I love to pile on the bling, so for this look I opted to layer a huge statement necklace I found at Zara to compliment the look. All that was needed to complete the look was a party bag and good pair of shoes – for these I decided to go with darker colours (okay, black) to anchor the look with two great pieces I found at Browns. The psychedelic clutch (that can also be worn over the shoulder) is the perfect size for a party, while the star-studded rockstar boots add a cool street style vibe to the look and will let you dance all night!
Outfit #2: The Retro Woman
As I mention in the video, brocade is HUGE this season and I decided to take full advantage. Personally, I love the rich fabrics and jewel tones that come with this trend that are just perfect for the holiday season. For this look I decided to play up on the 60s and 70s trends from the runways, and create a look that I felt could be easily take a woman from the office to the office party, or after work drinks. For this look I decided to make the brocade pants I found at Zara the main feature of the outfit. Simply paired with a black chiffon blouse, the look would be totally office appropriate when paired with a pair of flats or brogues during the day. To turn it into an evening-ready look, I selected a pair of sparkly Mary Jane heels from Browns, and a beautiful retro coat with faux fur collar from Zara. Of course, swap your work bag for something more fun – like an oversized clutch to complete the look.
