My boyfriend cringes every time I mention how much I love P.K. Subban (being the die-hard Leafs fan that he is), but, I don’t care – I’ll scream it from the rooftops if I have to! Not only is P.K. a great hockey player (he’s a defenceman for the Montreal Canadians, in case you happen to know even less about pro sports than I do), but an incredible benefactor of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Just last year he pledged a very generous donation of $10 million over the next seven years to the hospital. If you have not yet watched the video of P.K.’s Winter Wonderland Surprise for the kids at the hospital last Christmas, I urge to you to grab a giant box of tissues and press play on the video below. Seriously, I’m about to ugly cry so hard just thinking about it!
Hosted by TSN’s Cabral Richards, the All-Star Gala 2016 will include appearances by professional athletes from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and Toronto FC. Last year’s inaugural gala raised $75,000 for SickKids, and this year’s event is set to raise $150,000 for both SickKids and Montreal Children’s Hospital in one night.
The glamorous semi-formal night of philanthropy will feature: mingling with past and present pro athletes from the NHL, NBA, CFL. MLS and MLB, open bar all night, live performances by well-known musicians and DJs, and luxury silent auction and raffles.
