It would be easy to hate Beyonce for being named the sexiest woman of the millennium by GQ. I mean, the girl is one of the most successful women in music, she’s married to the king of hip-hop (Jay-Z), has got a beyond cute baby named Blue, and somehow managed to get her bangin’ body back in what seemed like a couple of hours after giving birth. You could excuse the rest of us for thinking, “can we catch a break over here!?” But then you scroll through her image diary over on her blog and just think to yourself, “Beyonce, you really are the cutest person in the whole world!” How can you not love her?

This year, Girl Crush will highlight some of my favourite women whom I love for various reasons, but ultimately for their style. Beyonce was an obvious fit, especially after so recently being named Miss Millennium (Miss Millennium for christ’s sake! I’m still not over it.) Scrolling through her recent “blogger-esque” style shots, I was feeling a bit uninspired by the looks (if only because they’re a bit obvious in “blogger world’) but then I stumbled upon her photos from Texas and, to put it simply, fell in love with her all over again.

Even though I’ve never been to Texas, I’ve got the biggest hard-on for the place and I’m not sure why. Is it because I love Texas-sized margaritas at Dallas BBQ? That I love BBQ in general? Maybe because every Texan I’ve ever met has been extremely nice and super cool? Is it because street style icon Taylor Tomasi-Hill is Texan? All signs point to yes, those are the reasons.

I think there is something so special about these images and I really just wish that Beyonce would ask me to be her best friend. Until then, road trip anyone?
