What is your favourite fall trend?

This year I am loving the use of feminine pieces that have a touch of darkness to them. Girlie rebel is the best way I can describe it. I love the use of bold deep colors paired with tweed and tailored layers.

What designer did it best on the runway?

Marc Jacobs did a great job of mixing romance with edgy hardware, and combining this with bold colors and feminine fits.

How would you suggest wearing it as an everyday look?

You can pull off this trend easily by partnering a tweed skirt with a over the top orange sweater and houndstooth underneath with a pair of booties. Layer it up as much as possible, and combine masculine pieces with tailored fits.

What is your favourite fall trend?

Slightly fear-striken when it comes to answering questions about “favorites” since it’s just about equivalent to choosing a favorite child, there’s something special I can find in each one. Whether it’s forgoing the rule of “no white after labor day,” or adding opulent Eastern influences, I tend to combine trends with classic pieces in more traditional silhouettes, to personalize a look. So let’s talk about ‘winter white’ since that’s what my picture is all about.

What designer did it best on the runway?

I think Derek Lam did it best when he created this effortless chic look on the runway by marrying a whimsical floor-length skirt with a gauzy textured knit.  That look is the epitome of chic.

How would you suggest wearing it as an everyday look?

I translated the winter white into a more bohemian look, but still kept that sophistication by combining sheer oversized button down with leather-collar detailing and wide-legged trousers, with some refined accessories and a pop of deep red lips. A trend is a trend until you personalize it. I tend to gravitate toward loosely fitted pieces in a variation of textures that evoke that West Coast comfort in a New York setting.  My best advice would be: find what works best for you, whether that be colors or a fit.  Then, work around that by combining elements that are appealing to your everyday lifestyle.
