The tastemaker behind fashion editorials featured in publications such as Dazed & Confused and VMan, as well as the red carpet style of various celebrities, New York stylist Nicole Vitagliano understands the complexity of putting together the perfect outfit in any given situation.

Owning  a distinct knack for assembling glam looks infused with a rocker edge, the effortless cool of Vitagliano’s creative vision is apparent in her own personal style. Below, the stylist opens her wardrobe up to FILLER, and shares her must-have  fashion and beauty items including the goodies on her holiday wish list.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

Pretty set in my ways. I love a pointed toe and a skinny pant, leaves a little room to go crazy on top. Overall polished with a messy mop of hair.

WHAT’S THE OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR CLOSET, SOMETHING THAT YOU JUST CANT BARE TO THROW AWAY?

My mom just found a really awesome tie dye tee shirt dress I made when I was young. If it didn’t have my name in glitter glue, it would be in heavy rotation. I also have some vintage Lacroix couture jewelry that I treasure.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER, AND WHAT IS THE MUST-HAVE ITEM FROM THEIR AUTUMN/WINTER 2012-13 COLLECTION?

I can’t play favorites, but I really want one of the Rick Owens knit, muzzle mask pieces from fall. They’re strangely practical.

WHAT BEAUTY ITEMS CAN BE FOUND IN YOUR PURSE AT ALL TIMES?

I always have Lucas Papaw Ointmentliterally use this for everything: cuts, chapped lips, highlighting, and even put some on my ends when my hair is too blown out; Burt’s Bees hand sanitizer with aloe and witch hazel, it’s the only one that won’t dry out your hands; Makeup Forever black aqua eyes pencil Purple (magazine) perfume 1982; Laura Mercier Hydratint in Crimson; and RODIN olio lusso Luxury CREMA.

WHICH DO YOU PREFER, HAIR UP OR DOWN FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION?

I always prefer my hair down, however, certain dresses demand an up do. In which case, I prefer something loosely tossed up, or a braided boho look.

WHAT’S YOUR PERFECT HEAD TO TOE OUTFIT FOR HOLIDAY COCKTAIL PARTIES?

I’ve been daydreaming about this outfit. Balmain liquid velvet pants or jeans with a Balmain boxy leather jacket, white pointed Céline pumps, and Céline leather scarf. Really anything from Balmain’s fall collection would do.
