So now that it’s Christmas, can we talk about what we’re going to wear on New Year’s Eve? To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of going out on NYE, but that’ doesn’t mean I don’t love to dress up and do something fun with my closest friends. This year’s we’ve decided to host a little dinner party at #CasaGC, and just because I’m staying home doesn’t mean I won’t be dressing up!

Last week I headed to Square One in Mississauga with my girl Stefania of Textstyles to find two totally different NYE looks that Stefania then kindly documented for me. Just like Cher in Clueless, I never trust mirrors! Except that in leading up to 2015, we take digital images rather than polaroids, naturally.

For this first look, I went into Topshop (remember when I helped cut the ribbon at the grand opening of their Square One location with Jay Strut and Liz Trinnear!?) where I found this amazing pair of black and gold sequin pants. Extra perk for anyone out there also taking part in a dinner party on New Year’s Eve: These pants have an elastic waist band!

Since I quoted Clueless at the start of this post (and often quote Clueless in my writing and daily life), you can probably guess just how big of a fan I am of the nineties cult classic film. You can probably also guess just how I excited I got when I spotted these faux fur trim heels in the shoe section at Topshop. I mean, they’re SO Clueless!

Since the bottom half of this outfit is the statement of the look I decided to keep things (slightly) simpler up top by pairing it with a simple white top and chubby cream coat (in case I decide to actually leave my house on NYE). Oh, and can we talk about the amazing faux-fur chubby clutch!? I love that thing! Especially because it can double as a pillow at the end of the night.

Look two from BCBG is all about a fun party look with pieces that don’t necessarily scream “New Year’s Eve!” and can each be worn again (separately or together) over and over. Personally, I’m all about getting the most bang for your buck and this outfit is a way to do just that.

The dress of course is stunning on its own, but me being me, I of course needed to add a leather jacket on top of it to make it feel right. What you don’t see in this picture is that this dress features a stunning open back, which almost eliminates the need to accessorize this look. If I were to add anything, it might be a great pair of statement earrings, or a cocktail ring.

Post-NYE I could totally see myself wearing this dress as an everyday look when paired with a simple cashmere crew neck sweater layered over top. The jacket? It can go with anything, and at its simplest would look great with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

What can you see about these great boots except that you can never have too many pairs of great black boots! Personally I love the Victorian influence of this boot, with the added modern touch of the rose gold studs.

So which look do you prefer? Leave a comment and let me know!
