bmwtopanga

I’ll never forget reading an issue of Seventeen Magazine with an interview featuring Danielle Fishel, aka Topanga from Boy Meets World, in which she discussed some of her beauty secrets. Most notably, her hair care and maintenance. At the time — being a young girl living with her parents — it bewildered me that someone could have multiple different shampoos and conditioners to choose from everyday. Topanga, you see, said that she switched up the hair products she used on a regular basis so that her hair would never get used to anything. For me? I used whatever my parents had provided in the shower.

Somehow, Topanga’s hair care words have never left me, and even now as an adult, I always feel she would be proud to know I have about a billion different types of shampoos and conditioners at all times thanks to her. My current rotation is particularly pleasing, and so I thought it might be a good time to share not only the secret to Topanga hair, but some of my very favourite shampoos and conditioners. Here are the 5 I can’t live without, right now:

Smooth Infusion by Aveda

At first I thought it would be weird to use a shampoo designed to smooth out curly or wavy hair (I mean, it didn’t sound all that natural) but after using Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite shampoos and conditioners I’ve ever used. It’s what I use after the gym, and I have never before been able to rely on my wash-and-go hair looking so good! Not only do my waves look relaxed and better than ever, it leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and extremely manageable. If you have curly or wavy hair I definitely recommend trying this out!

Plumping Wash & Rinse by Kevin Murphy

As you may have guessed, Kevin Murphy‘s latest collection is all about PLUMPING up your hair! I don’t know about you, but I LOVE thick and voluminous hair. Kevin Murphy has been one of my favourite go-to brands for years, and I’m extremely happy that his latest products focus on thickening the hair, as well as accelerating growth and preventing hair loss. Thank you Kevin!

LaCoupe orgnx Coconut & Macadamia Oil Line

After such a long and cold winter, our hair is just screaming to be nourished and hydrated — at least mine is! Made from “two of the most cherished oils found in nature” LaCoupe orgnx Cocout & Macadamia Nut Oil line is an amazing option if you’re looking for a great product that you easily (and accessibly) pick up from your local Shopper’s Drug Mart.

The Age Resist Collection by Live Clean Professional

As they say, it’s never “too early” to start using anti-aging products. If you’re already using eye creams and face masks on the regular, why would you neglect the preservation of your beautiful hair? Live Clean’s new Age Resist line is designed to target the signs of aging hair such as: diminished density, changes in texture, dullness and lack of shine, increased dryness, as well as fragile, breaking hair. All the while staying true to being cruelty-free, and free of phosphates, SLS, parabens, and other harsh ingredients.

Original Mane ‘n Tail

It might seem pretty ridiculous to purchase shampoo and conditioner called Mane ‘n Tail with a couple of running horses on the label but, honestly, two of my friends who have the nicest hair have both recommended it to me, separately. After confirming that it’s not actually for horses, I finally headed out to pick up my own set. While I didn’t wake up with a gorgeous main overnight, I did notice that my hair felt smooth, yet thick. Let’s just hope it really does help increase how fast my hair grows. I want it long for summer! Mane ‘n Tale can be found at your local Wal-Mart or Shoppers Drug Mart.

Are there any shampoos that you swear by? Leave a comment and let me know!
