To be honest, I’m quite certain a margarita is not considered a ‘tiki cocktail’, but, when I found this amazing brass pineapple cocktail holder, I couldn’t help but want to fill it with my favourite cocktail, the margarita. Ask anyone who knows, and they will confirm that I looooove a good margarita, especially when it’s hot out. Since I’ve been playing around with cocktail recipes using Crabbie’s Orignal Alcoholic Ginger Beer lately, I decided to try my hand at creating a Ginger Beer Margarita Recipe that could be enjoyed in my new glorious pineapple. Who says you always have to play by the rules, right?

I tend to like a good kick in a cocktail, so I took the liberty of throwing in a dash of chilli flakes in this recipe. Of course, if you prefer the spice of ginger on its own to keep things a little less spicy when you’re getting saucy, I invite you to leave them out of the concoction. It’s definitely equally as tasty either way you enjoy it.

Gracie’s Ginger Beer Margarita Recipe

What You Need:

(makes 1 serving)

1.5 ounces of tequila

juice of 1 fresh lime

3 ounces of Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer

1 ounce of Triple Sec

1 teaspoon of agave or simple syrup

ice

salt for the rim (or to throw right in the drink, as I did)

chilli flakes and lime wedges to garnish

What To Do:

As you may have noticed from the photo above, this margarita is served on the rocks. This means it’s even easier to make than the popular blended version, and more authentic! To get this ready for your enjoyment, place ice in a cocktail shaker, then pour in the tequila, fresh lime juice, Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer, Triple Sec and agave or simple syrup, and shake it all together until well mixed. Rim your glass with salt (if you are not throwing it directly into the cocktail as I did here to ensure I could still drink from the brass straw of an intact brass pineapple), fill with ice, and pour the cocktail mixture into the glass. Garnish with lime wedges and a few chilli flakes before serving.
