The start time on the invite stated 10:00 PM; by 10:15, the line, or should I say lines, begin to wrap around the entrance of the Tribeca Grand Hotel. While many a hipster are seen fighting their way to the front of the velvet ropes only to be turned away, art industry insiders, musicians and celebrities on the VIP list are seaemlessly ushered through the revolving doors and led to what was is one of the more anticipated gatherings of the week.

Hosting the party is Dossier, a biannually- produced art journal based in Brooklyn, and independently published by friends Skye Parrott and Katherine Krause. The magazine, is young at just 2 years old, but has been known to attract some of the most influential artists and creative minds working in the industry today, and their party was is no exception.
Inside the hotel’s Church bar, hundreds of beautiful people are standing shoulder to shoulder dancing to the thumping music, spun by the party’s co-hosts, The Misshapes, who DJ the night’s first set, followed by Ilirjana Alushaj of Apache Beat.
Leigh Lezark, the cover model of Dossier’s issue 4 and member of The Misshapes, looks sleek and stunning in a simple black Chanel cocktail dress. The newest addition to Chanel’s collection of celebrity muses, Lezark looks ever fashionable while playing ambassador for the night. “It’s great it is to throw a party with Dossier!” she says to me before I lose her in the crowd.
Leigh Lezark of the Misshapes makes her way through the crowd.
Away from the mob crowding the DJ booth in the back room, Elettra Wiedemann and her posse lounge in VIP booths in the front room. At the next table over, designer Yigal Azrouëel and his friends are being photographed by a handful of photographers. Olympic fencing medallists Jason Rogers and Tim Morehouse are seen flipping through the new issue of Dossier, and it should be noted, that their charm and style might just give the sport of fencing the comeback it has been longing for.
Other fashion heavyweights spotted in the crowd include Elle Magazine’s Fashion Director Kate Lanphear, and designers Jeffrery Costello and Robert Tagliapietra. Local New York designers Samantha Pleet and Pamela Love were are also in attendance, both of whom sell their lines at the Dossier Concept shop in Brooklyn.
Other fashionables working the room included none other than Dossier founders Parrott and Krause, briefly towards the end of the night. Both women look just as good as they do different. Krause wears a black and emerald long sleeve mini dress (vintage), although it was a dead ringer for the Fall 09 Balenciaga dresses that have been plastered all over the September issue of Vogue. Parrott—traditionally more minimalist in her wardrobe choices—wears a simple black skirt and oatmeal coloured tank, accessorized with a vintage necklace, snagged on a recent trip to Paris.
Not only do the duo behind the magazine know how to produce and execute an inspirational publication, they know how to draw in the right crowd to create the perfect party vibe. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait for issue 5 to drop before we see another soiréee.
