With the end of the Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week season, comes an updated list of model’s to watch. We’ve kept our list to a fab five — five faces from around the world that have become speedy staples on runways from New York to Milan. Below, the scoop on fashion’s next generation of “it” girls and how they got their big break.

Big Break – Tookes got her foot in the door on the commercial side of the modelling industry via a photo shoot with Bruce Weber for Abercrombie & Fitch before signing with IMG in 2009. She quickly went on to lucrative ad contracts, which included becoming a face for Gap in 2010. The California native then went on to book a SS11 ad campaign for DKNY alongside models Heidi Mount, Kori Richardson. Up next was a spread for Italian Vogue, shot by Ellen Von Unwerth. Following her commercial success, she turned her attention to the runways and has since walked for fashion houses including Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Prada, Miu Miu and Versace.

Big Break – In 2010, Ala won runner-up at International Elite Model Look contest. That year, she made her exclusive debut at the FW11 Balenciaga show in Paris. The following spring, she was featured on the cover of Dazed & Confused, photographed by Roe Ethridge and Italian Vogue that same summer, photographed by Steven Meisel. Her runway highlights include opening for  Temperley’s SS12 show and closing the Sonia Rykiel that season.

Top-Models-Edie-Campbell-RunwayBig Break – Campbell’s jump into the spotlight in 2006 came by way of a Vogue shoot by Mario Testino, before she had signed with an agency. Still unsigned, Campbell earned an ad campaign for Burberry alongside supermodel Kate Moss. Through campaigns such as this, Campbell quickly became known for her distinctly British look. In 2009, she signed on to be the face of Marc by Marc Jacobs, boosting her “it” girl status. Her key runway moments include closing the spring Chanel couture show in Paris in 2012. While most recent career highlights include being recognized at the 2013 British Fashion Awards, where she was named “Model of the Year.”

Top-Models-Josefien-Rodermans-RunwayBig Break – In 2011, on the runway of Calvin Klein’s resort collection, Rodermans announced her presence to the international fashion community. That same year, she walked the runway of the couture shows for Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Azzedine Alaïa in Paris. Already becoming a talked about model, she landed the See by Chloe spring 2012 ad campaign. She has also walked the runway for labels including Daks and Michael Van Der Ham and Anya Hindmarch, a demonstration of her range as a model.

Top-Models-Kati-Nescher-RunwayBig Break – After signing with DNA in 2011, Nescher made her debuts at the fall Armani Privé couture show in Paris, already in her mid-twenties. Though her break came later in life — she was 27-years-old when she landed her first Vogue editorial — she has proven that age is just a number. She has walked for fashion houses including Marni, Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent, been featured in ad campaigns for brands such as Louis Vuitton and counts a spring cover shoot by Daniel Jackson for Dazed & Confused amongst highlights in her editorial portfolio.
