A master of beautifully draped pieces, Lauren Bagliore presents her spring/summer 2012 collection of jersey convertible gowns. Sticking with her mandate to create elegant but comfortable clothing for women, her latest line carried forth all that ones expects from a Bagliore collection.
The crowd is seated, this group is particular calm, much more so than that of other shows this week; perhaps it says something about the collection to come.
The show opens with a little light show of red lights flashing from one side of the runway to the other. The first models proceed down the runway, by the 5th, the colour palette becomes apparent: monochromatic tones of black, white and a few hints of grey. The dresses are mostly in jersey, draped expertly for body skimming silhouettes with asymmetrical hems. Some of the gowns are one shouldered and embrace a Grecian quality with accent details of knots and twists.
The pieces coming down the runway now are moving away from classic and towards the week’s trends, see the printed black and white fabrics and dropped crotched harem style pants. The loose fitting trenches in grey nylon are a standout.
There’s a shift to formal wear, beautiful drapes and folds with deep exposed backs grace the runway.
The show draws to a close. Final impression: this is a line of dresses for the everyday women — flattering drapes made in jersey and designed with equal parts comfort and elegance in mind.
