Oh Hi Summer, you’ve finally decided to visit Toronto! I can’t tell you how good it feels to shed off layers of clothing and be able to venture outdoors without freezing to death. It’s as though the entire city has finally come alive overnight. Mother Nature is green again, and people are walking around with actual smiles on their faces.

The first dramatic change in seasons is always the most fun because it feels like you get to re-discover parts of your wardrobe all over again. I find myself wanting to dress up for no reason — spending extra time getting ready for work, or even putting on my “Sunday best” on a Sunday when I’m not really going anywhere, or doing anything where my best clothes are needed.

But when you finally get the chance to flash some skin and feel pretty in a dress, why wouldn’t you?

I was all smiles wearing this dress from LOFT on the weekend. Not just because it made me feel pretty and I love the cut-out back, but because I didn’t even have to wear a bra with it! As any busty woman can relate to, being able to go bra-less in dress that still makes your boobs look good will bring on tears of pure joy.

To avoid having this polka dot number end up looking too kitschy, I paired it with accessories that were the furthest thing from what you would find on a fifties pin up. That means flat sandals and a preppy-goes-tribal clutch. Sure, my sunglasses are cat eye, but they’re not as sleek (or sharp) as what you would typically find on a girl with rolled bangs.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love fifties pin up looks! But I prefer to pull influences from different styles and mix them together to make them my own. Don’t you think this would be a great look for a summer BBQ party or casual date on a hot night? Yay summer!

What I Wore: Sunglasses by Chloe, polka dot dress by LOFT, clutch by LOFT, necklaces by Blackbird, shoes from Shop Sauvage.
