Here it is! The first What I Wore post of 2016, which, oddly, features a brand new outfit made up from absolutely nothing new in my wardrobe. That’s right, I *finally* slipped out of my comfy yoga clothes (which seem to be my daily uniform as of late) and dug deep into my miniature walk-in closet to put this look together before flying out the door to get to the #saksuTOpia dinner party on the other side of town.

With the recent passing of the beloved David Bowie, I was inspired to get creative with my outfit, and a little rock ‘n roll. Of course, Bowie always loved red, and I think that could be why I gravitated to a few statement pieces, such as my red earrings and shoes, for the first time in ages.

For this look I decided to play up my favourite #GCstyle persona, which is the Rock ‘n Roll Cowgirl. Thankfully it wasn’t too hard to achieve in a hurry, with help from my favourite fringed black suede moto jacket by The Kooples and tiered fringe black suede skirt, both of which I found at WINNERS early last fall. The band-inspired t-shirt is by Kenzo that was a pretty fabulous hand-me-down from my generous cousin, Hana, while the furry oxblood shoes are from the FLARE x Aldo collaboration a few years ago.

One thing I learned during the #saksuTOpia dinner is that people – even fashion people – won’t realise some of your pieces are super old (even if they are), and will, in fact, compliment them the most. In fact, I was even asked if my shoes were by Rodarte! If that isn’t worth the $150 I spent on them way back when, I don’t know what is.

In all seriousness, the #saksTOpia event brought some of the city’s finest media and influencers together for an intimate dinner party to launch Saks Canada‘s newest campaign which highlights a handful of Toronto‘s most creative and interesting people to showcase what they do, and why the love doing it in the wonderful city they live in.

Take a look at some of the videos below!
