In between red carpets, film screenings and after parties, VIP festival-goers can often be found visiting gifting lounges during TIFF. Actors, directors, musicians, and media darlings alike stop by the suites to relax, refresh, and get a chance to discover cool brands and their products. One lounge that is never to be missed is the Tastemakers Lounge, this year celebrating it’s 10th year running. What’s especially great about the Tastemakers Lounge is its emphasis on Canadian brands. All attending ‘tastemakers’ are able to discover products and brands that range from the newly launched to the globally established. Just four days into TIFF, here are some of the major celeb sightings (so far) at this year’s Tastemaker’s Lounge sponsored by Brita:
First up: Canada’s very own, Elisha Cuthbert! Pretty much every kid (well so long as you’re now in your mid-twenties) remembers Elisha from her days as a host on Popular Mechanic for Kids. Of course she is also known for her roles in 24 and Happy Endings. Celebrity Canadian hosts such as Jian Ghomeshi, Rick Campanelli, Cheryl Hickey, and Ben Mulroney. Keeping hydrated is key to surviving TIFF, which made Brita a perfect sponsor for the lounge. Tastemakers were able to pick up new water filtration pitchers and reusable water bottles to take with them on the go.
British singer and songwriter, Ellie Goulding, also stopped by the lounge and got familiar with iconic Canadian leather brand, Danier, as well as Toronto-based designer Tonia DeBellis. Famed actress, Rene Russo, was also snapped while getting cozy in Tonia DeBellis pieces that included ‘haute’ hoodies and reversible snoods.
Canadian rapper, producer and ‘Original Rudeboy’, Kardinal Offishall, also dropped by the lounge. It’s hard to tell if he was more excited about discovering the new Papa D’s Tropical Hot Sawce from Vancouver, or the Counting Sheep Coffee that actually helps you sleep at night!
Criminal Minds hottie, Shemar Moore, is also in town and took a seat at the Tastemakers Lounge to pick out a new pair of Sorel winter boots. Thankfully, they weren’t needed for the current weather in Toronto, although Shemar (obviously) makes them look good anytime of the year.
Comedian Tom Green stopped by the lounge with girlfriend, Erin Darling, and picked up a black-on-black leather varsity jacket from Danier.
Actor Florian David of Tour de Force autographed the Lush Cosmetics signing board in support of Toronto-based organizations Girls Rock Camp Toronto and Children’s Peace Theatre. The Charity Pot hand and body lotion can be purchased from LUSH to help support grassroots charities such as Girls Rock Camp Toronto.
Degrassi star, Annie Clark, showed off her new travel bag from RISE Gear — a Canadian company that appeared on Dragon’s Den. These lightweight carrying cases include a folding shelf that can be hooked inside closets and the backs of doors when travelling to help keep your clothing organised while on the road.
Additional brands (not pictured) represented in the Tastemakers Lounge this year include Piloti, Olive + Piper, Consonant Skincare, and Calvin Klein REVEAL.
Wishing you a happy 10th anniversary, Tastemakers Lounge! Thanks for having me!
