Ever since I designed ‘The Gracie’ jacket with Danier Leather last year, its really felt as though I’ve officially been bitten by the ‘design bug’. Even though I went to school for fashion at Ryerson, my involvement in the design side of the program never really appealed to me, and instead I focused on communication. But I have to say, getting to walk around in a special piece that I helped design is one of the coolest feelings and really makes you appreciate something so much more.

Naturally, when Brave Leather  asked me to design a bag with them as part of their Brave x Lifestyle Bloggers collaboration, I jumped at the chance. An opportunity to design my very own dream bag from scratch? How on earth could I possibly say no!

Today is officially the big reveal of all three limited edition designs created by me, Gaby Burger and Christine Dovey. Even I didn’t get to see all three bags together until I put this post together last night! With such different styles and tastes, it’s so cool to see how each of us interpreted our own Toronto-made dream bag by Brave Leather. Here’s a look at the three different bags up close!

Gaby’s Bag

Brave Leather Blogger Collab 2

Gaby’s bag  is a full grain vegetable tanned outer leather lined with the same full grain leather, the hair on front panel is Italian cow leather (not pony) and the chain is a solid brass detachable detail. As a lover of all things leopard, I obviously love Gaby’s little mini design! It’s such a great bag to throw into a larger day bag and pull out when you’re ready for evening events. Christine’s Bag

Brave Leather Blogger Collab 1

Christine’s bag is a full grain Italian leather outer with a hand pleated cummerbund inspired front panel lined with a graphic hand silk screened lining treatment. Since I’m a clutch girl when I got out (and most often wear black) I’m totally into Christine’s classic envelope design. I especially love the surprise pop of graphic print on the inside when you open it up! Click HERE for more info on Christine’s bag on the Brave Leather site!

Gracie’s Bag

And now, last but not least, here is my bag! This is an Italian nappa soft outer leather and full lined with FULL grain natural veg – the edges and seams are not folded but hand polished and painted for a old world quality finish detail with a decidedly modern style. When designing this bag I chose to stick with blue leather since 1. I love blue leather and 2. my Danier jacket was designed in a midnight blue leather. This great Spring bag appears in a brighter cobalt blue for the warmer season. Now, what’s special about this bag is that is actually a 3-in-1 bag! I designed it so that it could be used as a backpack, a handbag and a clutch in order  to truly suit the everyday needs of a busy gal on the go like me. Take a look at the bag from behind with its removable shoulder straps below:

When I showed my bag design to my brother he said “Very Cher Horowitz!” which is when I knew I had officially create my dream bag — anything Cher Horowitz approved is obviously Gracie approved too! Click HERE for more info on my bag on the Brave Leather site!
