The young Montreal-based designer Travis Taddeo continues to deliver his signature brand of pared down street style in a collection that signs off with definitive edge.
Not a designer for the faint of heart, his cult following is undoubtedly pleased with the comely details of his latest collection, including high slits and cutouts. Utilizing a concise palette of black, grey and white, accents of metallic gunmetal and an electric shade of cobalt blue inject an uplifting pop of colour to the muted collection.
On the runway at World MasterCard Fashion Week, looks were styled street ready; high-top sneakers were teamed with sheer tanks, fitted denim, asymmetrical hemlines, sleek leather jackets and vests (we especially swooned for the gunmetal grey leather pieces for women), and twisted jersey dresses. A statement piece of the collection, the sexy twisted jersey dress would be summertime staple, were it not for the overly low cut at the hip that’s a little too Bond girl for even the most confident of women on the hunt for a party look.
A cross between Blade Runner and The Matrix, with a finishing polish of sophistication borrowed from the cobbled streets of SoHo, NYC, Taddeo’s SS13 line lends an air of effortless cool to its wearer. This designer is one to keep keeping your eye on.
