No one can dispute the mastery of David Szeto’s draping. The Canadian born, Paris-based designer’s brand of femininity was on full display this season. The soft effortlessness of Szeto’s paired down woman adorned the runway, exhibiting hints of small details in her wake in the form of gold buttons at the cuffs and a thin chain at the waist.
A collection that appeals to the Jackie O in any woman, Szeto showed he is a man of refinement and classic taste. Elegance was created by emphasising the feminine waistline with thin leather belts, and a knee to mid-calf length hemline for both dresses and skirts. Colour and pattern were not shunned with favour given to hues in forest green, purple and cobalt. Silks were adorned in all over print fabric of small, geometric shapes.
With his F/W12 collection, Szeto solidified the century old argument that loose fitting pieces versus tight can be far, far more sexy.
