Shizen Spa Cosmopolitan

Isn’t it one of the best feelings when you discover a total secret in your own city for the first time? That’s just how I felt when I stepped inside Shizen Spa‘s location inside downtown Toronto‘s Cosmopolitan Hotel. Just like the boutique hotel itself, the spa is like a tucked away surprise in the centre of the city.

What makes it so special? Namely its amazing layout and interior design. Entering Shizen Spa Cosmopolitan Hotel feels like you’re entering a secret cabin in Japan. Fitting, really, considering the name ‘Shizen’ is taken from the Japanese word for nature. A surprise, however, from the more-traditional look and layout of Shizen’s nearby location inside the Pantages Hotel just up the street.

Being inside this spa really does make you feel like you’ve been transported to another place, even though the city jungle is just outside; I’ve never felt so relaxed and as though I had gone on a real vacation, even for just a couple of hours.

On my first visit to Shizen at the Cosmopolitan, I received the The Hydration Ritual – an amazing 50 minute body and hair treatment that revives the mind, body and soul — that features the new body products by Moroccanoil. For fans of the hair miracle worker, you’ll be pleases to know The Hydration Ritual includes the classic hair treatment, along with a Body Buff that combines natural orange peel exfoliator with argan oil, vitamin E, nourishing avocado and much more.

I mentioned my first visit because I loved the spa atmosphere so much that I booked a treatment on the spot for visit the next week with my boyfriend. Longing for some time for us to relax together, I booked a couples package to treat him for his birthday. I mean, if you’re going to take a boy to a spa in the city, you might as well take him to the one that looks like a cool secret cabin in the sky, right?

Needless to say my second visit was even more fun and relaxing than my first. The couples package included a private suite with a giant soaker tub that we were able to enjoy for 30-minutes before both receiving 60-minute massages. They also supplied our room with tea, cakes, and chocolate covered strawberries for extra romantical points.

Shizen Spa Cosmopolitan

There are many spas in the city of Toronto that I know and love, but this Shizen’s location inside the Cosmopolitan is truly one that caught me by surprise (in the best possible way) as soon as I walked in. If you’re looking for a quiet spa getaway in the city, I highly recommend you to pay it a visit as soon as you can.

Thank you Shizen Spa Cosmopolitan!
