It might be fashion week in Toronto but I’m heading off to Brooklyn, NY for the rest of the week! How amazing is this DKNY-esque BKNY T-shirt from Purple Label? And so fitting that it would show up in my mailbox just before my trip.

Travelling straight after work always entails a lot of wardrobe planning, for me anyway. Especially when I’m trying to pack light. Normally I just shove everything into a bag the night before and hope for the best. But with the addition of a full day of work in the office, I actually have to consider how presentable I’ll be during the day, as well as how comfy I’ll be on the flight, never mind getting to the airport and through security without too much hassle.

For this trip I chose to go with a couple of great tailored pieces from Smart Set‘s fall collection. That’s right, I said Smart Set! Considering the last time I really shopped there was during high school, I was amazed to find such great, and classically on-trend pieces that I’ve practically been living in over the past month.

While the super soft BKNY purple tee gives the look more of an edge (and also keeps me comfy) the thick, tailored jacket from Smart Set pulls together the look while still allowing me to easily throw it on and off throughout the day. And of course no chic travel plans would be complete with out a Jolie roller bag by your side.

What’s in that Jolie bag of mine? That’s a whole other story, but when traveling to NYC I always try to take key pieces from my wardrobe that can be worn more than once, and re-interpreted for different scenarios. And of course you can’t forget a few key accessories – like this understated wrap watch from Caravelle, and Scorpio medallion necklace. One thing that always help me settle in when travelling is carrying a bottle of my favourite perfume, especially when in a hotel, a find that a spritz here and there can make it feel more like home. For this trip, I chose to pack Calvin Klein‘s latest ‘It’ perfume, Downtown, perfect for a weekend in NYC, don’t you think?
