When your favourite online shopping website turns five, it’s kiiiind of a big deal. I imagine it to be about as epic as the fifth birthday of my own child, if I had one. I mean, I LIVE for this thing! Although I am a bit sad that The Outnet didn’t choose to celebrate its fifth birthday with a $5 sale (yes, they did have a $1 item sale when they turned 1, and a $2 item sale when they turned two — which I miraculously scored a coveted and very limited online ticket to and bought a Vanessa Bruno dress) they are, instead, launching a limited edition 17-piece collection of iconic styles. Not only did they partner with supermodel Chanel Iman to model their birthday collection, but they called upon 17 major designers and brands to review their archives and re-issue one of their signature pieces just to celebrate. Interested? Of course you are, and the good news is that the collection launches online TODAY.

But before you get shopping, I thought you might be interested in what life is like inside The Outnet. I for one was extremely interested in poking around their NYC HQ. Thankfully, their mega glam PR, Tuke, was kind enough to open up the doors just for me (and my bestie Sara) when I was in town last fall. Here’s what we saw:

Their NYC HQ is home to all three sites: Net-a-Porter.com, TheOutnet.com and MrPorter.com. The entrance certainly set the tone for the colour scheme that was to be found throughout the office: Black & White. How can you go wrong?

Next to their front desk was a ginormous and incredibly glamorous staircase that I naturally just had to sit and pose on…

At the top of the stairs we found a room full of their staff hard at work. We also found a number of “Glam Pods” where you could sit and be super fab and extra glamorous, just because.

Obviously Sara and I just had to sit and absorb the glam of being in a glam pod.

Their meeting rooms had glass walls, making them look light and airy rather than scary.

In fact, there were a lot of white walls, and glass walls. And areas where it looked like you could have meetings. Or have lunch.

There were also a lot of computer screens everywhere. I guess so that you could shop online no-matter where you were in the office!

There was even a massive screen with Olivier Theyskens‘ pretty face featured in a video.

Tuke said all of the clothes were hiding behind all the big closed doors…

But she pulled out a few key pieces from their in-house line, Iris & Ink.

…and then surprised me with an amazing Iris & Ink leather top as an early birthday present that Sara and I promptly fought over!

I wasn’t the only one that Tuke opened The Outnet doors for, my favourite fashionista P’Trique of The Platform also went #insideTheOutnet to make his fashion dreams come true. You have GOT to watch the hilarious video below:

Thank you THE OUTNET and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!
